It wasn’t as if she was deliberately messy. The room just… messed itself up. She couldn’t stop it, it was like the room had a mind of its own. As she rushed around the living room of her quarters, Brooke cursed. She didn’t know how all of these clothes had ended up in the living room. As far as Brooke remembered, all of her dirty clothes went in the clothes hamper in her room. A light frown appeared on her face, and Brooke turned her brown-eyed gaze (lol) to the yapping dog at her feet. “Frisky! Shut up!” she snapped. The Pomeranian puppy continued yapping excitedly. Brooke’s frown deepened, and it was then that she realised how her living quarters had become so messy. Frisky had obviously dragged out all of Brooke’s clothes and shoes and placed them accordingly around the living room, thus making it impossible for Brooke to clean.

Xander Wibberly (lolol) was coming over for… well, Brooke didn’t really know why he was coming over. But he was coming over, and he would be there soon. Brooke turned a frantic gaze to the yapping dog, and pointed to the large amount of squeaky toys that littered the room. “Frisky, pick up your toys”, she commanded. The Pomeranian stared at Brooke for a moment, before running around the room picking up all of the squeaky toys. One by one, each toy was placed back into Brooke’s room, where they belonged. Brooke followed suit, picking up all the clothes the puppy had dragged into the living room, throwing them back into the clothes hamper that was then locked safely in her room.

Once she was satisfied that the room was clean, Brooke turned her attention to Frisky, who was nibbling happily on the corner of Brooke’s pale yellow couch. The young woman rolled her eyes. There was only so much she could teach the dog. And Frisky already knew how to clean up after herself, so that was a plus. She made her way into the kitchen, where Brooke proceeded to fill up Frisky’s food dish with biscuits. She then placed another bowl down beside the biscuit bowl and put some meat into it. She then set out her tea selection (which wasn’t very big), and boiled some water. She’d stolen some cookies and brownies from the kitchen, which she placed onto a plate, next to the tea selection. Brooke didn’t know what time Xander would be there, but it would probably be soon. Well, it had better be soon, otherwise the water she’d just boiled would go cold.

Xander strode down the hallways in no rush. He greeted some of his students as he passed, but otherwise didn't really say much. He was headed for the Muggle Studies teacher's quarters, where he would be seeing Brooke Gay Man for... no reason at all, really. But he had a couple of free hours before his next lesson with third years (although they were very enthusiastic, they hardly listened to him and he wasn't looking forward to raising his voice), and he had decided to spend that time with Brooke, which frankly he rather enjoyed. It would be more interesting than wandering around aimlessly and trying to make small talk with whatever teacher he ran into.

Turning the corner, Xander lazily sauntered the rest of the way to Brooke's quarters, quietly humming some tune he heard someplace -- because those things tend to just get stuck in your head. When he reached her door, Xander hovered inside the doorframe for a moment, then let himself him. "Aw, you cleaned up just for me?" Xander asked, looking around, flattery showing on his face. "How sweet." He moved over and rested on the back of the yellow couch, and added, "And how are you going, Professor Gay Man?" Xander's eyes twinkled at the comment, smiling curling on his lips. The joke hadn't gotten old just yet.

Brooke had just gotten the water in the jug boiling when she heard the door open. The young woman whipped her head around to face the Care of Magical Creatures professor. “Aw, you cleaned up just for me?” Brooke rolled her eyes. Trust him to think that. Regardless of the fact that she had cleaned up for him, Brooke was not going to let him know that. “No. I cleaned up because it had to be done. The fact that you were coming over had nothing to do with my cleaning”, she said. “It’s purely a coincidence that you happened to come on the day I decided to clean. Although a good coincidence. I would prefer that you didn’t see my underwear.” Several pairs of Brooke’s underwear had been sitting exactly where Xander was leaning against.

“And how are you going, Professor Gay Man?” Brooke rolled her eyes. Xander had started that joke a few months after she’d been hired at Oasis Hill. He’d done it after saying her last name several times and realising it sounded exactly like the words ‘Gay Man’. Apparently the joke still amused the older man. “I’m going perfectly fine, Wibbles McGee”, Brooke said, “Although I would prefer it if you stopped calling me that. You know it gets on my nerves.” Which was probably why he continued to say it, the Muggle Studies professor thought. “How are you going, Wibbles?” Brooke loved calling him that. It was such a cutesie name, most men wouldn’t stand it. The jug behind her whistled to let her know the water was boiled.

“Would you like some coffee, Wibbles?” she asked as she made her way into the kitchen. Frisky followed her, obviously thinking the woman was going to give her a treat.
